Kite spectacular across the Channel

For a truly spectacular sight this Easter check out Europe’s biggest kite festival just across the Channel at the seaside town of  Berck-sur-Mer.

Specialist kite fliers from all over the world take over the huge beach for the annual event, which is celebrating its 25^th anniversary and runs from 16-25 April.

Highlights include contests for nimble stunt kites, carefully choreographed team displays and vast drogues in fantastic animal shapes, including the largest in the world, a 150 metre long stingray.

Berck is just an hour’s drive along the coast from Calais and P&O Ferries offers a choice of 23 sailings a day on its 90-minute Dover – Calais service, with fares from £23 return for a car and passengers.
