Important information regarding the new dock pass system for coach drivers at Dover Eastern Docks.
We have been informed by the Dover Harbour Board that with effect from Monday 4th December 2006, they will be introducing new security measures for coaches delivering passengers to or collecting passengers from the Interchange area or berthside at Dover Eastern Docks.
These revised procedures do not affect travelling coaches.
To minimise delays and possible inconvenience to passengers, it is recommended that coach drivers who use the port regularly, obtain a REGULAR VISITORS PASS.
(A permanent pass revalidated on each visit) or a Temporary Staff Pass (valid per visit for up to two hours). These are obtained from the DHB Information Desk in the Travel Centre. Passes will only be issued upon production of a formal form of photographic identification e.g. Passport or new Driving Licence.
Alternatively, for 'occasional users', a Temporary Paper Pass can be issued at the DHB Pass Office (Police Station) or at the DHB Westgate Control Point. A Coach Declaration Form will be issued for the driver to display in the windscreen of his coach. Should drivers not be able to stop at these two issuing points as they are proceeding via the PAFF Checkpoint (French Immigration), a Temporary Paper Pass and a Coach Declaration Form can be issued at the DHB Eastgate Checkpoint. A form of ID (Passport or Driving Licence) will be required.
If any coaches arrive at the P&O Ferries check-in booths without a pass, our staff will be obliged to issue the driver with a Vehicle Referral Form. The driver will be then required to park the coach at the Drivers Reception Centre and make their own way to the Eastgate Checkpoint for a Pass and a Coach Declaration Form to be issued.
We have been advised that should any coach driver issued with a Vehicle Referral Form who fails to go to the Eastgate Checkpoint to obtain a Temporary Paper Pass, both the driver and the coach company may be held accountable by the DHB AMSA Team.
The Dover Harbour Board will be monitoring the number of Referral Forms issued by Ferry Operators and the number of passes issued at the Eastgate Checkpoint. Additionally the AMSA Team will be making their own adhoc checks on coaches in the restricted area to ensure that they have the correct documentation.
Will you kindly bring this information to your drivers' and/or coach companies attention that you use in conjunction with your tours.
Thank you for your support.
