Barcelona tour shows visitors 1900 hotspots

The Barcelona 1900 exhibition at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is proving extremely popular with visitors.

It celebrates the transformation Barcelona underwent between 1880 and 1909, evident socially and through the city's fine architecture, which has since been an inspiration to subsequent generations of artists.

The exhibition displays the work of many artists of the day including Picasso and architects such as Gaudi and Cadafalch, which are rarely on public view.

Twelve portraits by Picasso and friends are also being reunited for the display, along with applied arts and pieces such as furniture and jewellery.

The Barcelona 1900 exhibition, running until January, takes visitors on a tour of all the key points of the city, including churches and parks, which led the social and architectural revolution of the period.

Guides are also available to help visitors navigate around the city to ensure Barcelona's offering are not missed.
