North Sea Jazz Festival, is a popular annual music event taking place in Rotterdam, it is the biggest jazz festival in the world, attracting about 100,000 visitors every year. Singer Natalie Cole will kick off the sixth Rotterdam edition of the festival at the Ahoy hall, on Thursday 7 July. It will be hosted over three days and features about 220 acts. The 16th Rotterdam Philharmonic Gergiev Festival will take place from 8-18 September. The festival takes place at a variety of venues in Rotterdam; from the concert halls in De Doelen to the quays of Kop van Zuid, and from LP2 in the former warehouse Las Palmas to the Laurenskerk . The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra is one of Holland’s most prominent orchestras. Its numerous recordings and successful tours have earned the orchestra international recognition.

Shopping in Rotterdam
Rotterdam is a shopper’s paradise. It has a diversity of shopping districts ranging from exclusive to popular, and from megastore to small boutique. The well-known shopping streets in Rotterdam are located in ‘Lijnbaan’ in the heart of Rotterdam, and shops are open seven days a week. The major department store is the ‘Bijenkorf’. Around the city center you'll find many unique boutiques. If you are keen on bargains, take a stroll around the market for a multi-cultural range of items every Tuesday or Saturday.
