P&O Ferries accept the carriage of pet animals, at a charge of £15 each way for any travelling onboard.
If you are taking your pet(s) on the Dover-Calais route you will need to check-in at least one hour before departure and the animals must remain inside the vehicle at all times during the crossing. Foot passengers are able to carry pets in containers which are lockable, of sound construction and able to withstand being secured on the ship, with the animals remaining on the lower deck for the duration of the journey.
For the Hull-Rotterdam/Zeebrugge routes you will need to check-in at least ninety minutes before departure and the animals remain inside air-conditioned kennels on the vehicle decks during the duration of the crossing. Foot and coach passengers are unable to carry pets, with the exception of registered guide and hearing dogs.
Due to the length of the sailing we are unable to accept pets on the Portsmouth-Bilbao crossing.
We make a charge of £15 each way for each pet travelling onboard, with the exception of registered guide and hearing dogs, which are carried free of charge. Please note that animals cannot travel unaccompanied.
For those wishing their dog, cat or ferret to travel under the PETS passport scheme, further information can be obtained from the Defra website, as well as quarantine requirements for pets that do not qualify under the scheme. Please note, cats and dogs must be vaccinated against rabies at least 6 months before you travel, so make sure you plan well in advance.
EU legislation now allows rabbits and rodents such as guinea pigs and mice to travel too – and you won’t need a pet passport to transport them!
On the Hull-Rotterdam/Zeebrugge route (both foot passenger and motorist bookings) and the Dover-Calais route foot passenger bookings cannot be made online so please call us to make your booking.
